Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 26, 2026 · Developer: VE3FGH (Denis Levesque), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada · deck@ve3fgh.ca

The short version

VE3FGH's Deck collects no personal data, runs no analytics, contains no advertising, and sends nothing to the developer. Your radio, your logbook, and your credentials stay between your phone, your PC, and your radio.

What the app does handle

All of the following stays on your own devices:

  • Connection settings (PC address, ports) — stored locally on your phone.
  • Your QRZ logbook API key — stored locally on your phone, used only to upload log entries you choose to upload, directly from your phone to QRZ.com. The developer never sees it.
  • Logbook entries — stored locally on your phone; uploaded to QRZ.com only when you (or the FT8/JS8 auto-log feature you enabled) log a contact.
  • Recorded voice memories — stored locally on your phone.
  • Radio control and audio — streamed directly between your phone and your own PC over your own network (or your Tailscale network). No third party, including the developer, is in that path.

Optional third-party services

If you configure them:

  • QRZ.com — receives log entries and lookup requests you initiate, under QRZ's own privacy policy.
  • pskreporter.info — receives FT8/JS8 reception reports if you enable spotting, under pskreporter's own policies.

The developer operates no server and receives no data from the app.

Permissions the app asks for

  • Network access — to reach your PC's bridge over your network.
  • Microphone (optional) — only for voice-transmit features when you explicitly use them.
  • Prevent sleep (optional) — only for background FT8/JS8 monitoring when you enable it.

The app does not request access to contacts, location, photos, files, or your identity.

Data sharing

None. There is nothing to share: the developer cannot access your device, your PC, your radio, or your logbook.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and requires users to hold an amateur radio licence, which itself has a minimum age.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
